Psychotherapy team

The list below is provided as an indication of the therapists who might be available. If you wish you may request to see a particular therapist, otherwise new referrals are usually allocated to the next available therapist.

Daniel Anderson

Registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council as a psychodynamic psychotherapist and has extensive experience in mental health.  Trained as a psychotherapist working both with individuals and with groups and as a medically qualified psychiatrist.  Areas of psychotherapeutic practice include psychodynamic psychotherapy and group analytic psychotherapy.  Can help with conditions such as depression, stress and trauma and has particular interests in gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender mental health, older adult mental health, medically unexplained symptoms and living with long term physical health conditions.

Susan Benbow

Registered as a Systemic Therapist with UKCP and member of the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice. Has completed an externship and core skills training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Works with adults of all ages individually, as couples, or in family groups. 

Ken Blythin

A UKCP accredited Core Process Psychotherapist and Supervisor, working with individuals.  Core Process Psychotherapy is a long term mindfulness-based therapy informed by Buddhist and Western psychology.

Liz Coldridge

Registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with UKCP.  Working individually in short and long term therapies.  Offers individual supevision.

Deborah Drinkwater

Bsc Honours in Therapeutic Interventions, BABCP accredited Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and BACP accredited counsellor. Also offers clinical supervision for counsellors and cognitive behaviour therapists.  A fully trained practitioner in EMDR therapy which is used for treating and processing trauma.  Also trained in ACT Acceptance and Committment Therapy which uses a mindfulness approach to therapy.  Works with individuals in short and long term therapies.  Registered with AXA PPP and Aviva health insurance companies.

Elizabeth Hammond

Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner; accredited by ACAT. Counsellor and Supervisor; accredited by BACP (Senior Accredited Member). Working with individuals and couples in both time-limited and long term therapies. Offers clinical supervision to individuals and groups.

Kathryn Holland

Accredited by BACP. Works as a psychanalytic/psychotherapist in long and short term therapies with individuals, and has a specialist interest in eating disorders. Also offers supervision.

Mary Hopper  

Experienced UKCP registered psychoanalytic psychotherapist.  Works with individuals on a wide range of issues, offering time limited and long term therapy.

Lesley James

Psychotherapist working with individuals, adolescents and a group. Abides by the Code of Ethics & Practice of BACP. 

Avtar Kaur-Thornton

Registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with UKCP.  Working individually in short and long term therapies including 2 x weekly.  Also offers individual supervison.

Allan Kidd

An experienced integrative counsellor and a registered and accredited member of the BACP.  Works with individuals in short and long term therapies.  Also works with small personal development groups and has particular experience in working with the 16-19 age range.   

Michelle Olivier 

An experienced integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor, a senior accredited member of the BACP and accredited by ACAT as a Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner and supervisor. Also offers Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) which is a therapy that targets traumatic experiences. Works with individuals, groups and as a supervisor.

Jean Rawsthorne

Registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist through the Adult Division of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. Registered with UKCP as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.  Working with adults long term, once and twice weekly.

Peter Rigg

Registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP);as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC); as a Couple Psychotherapist holding a Relate certificate in Couple Counselling, Theory and Practice.  Peter Rigg works with individuals or couples, long or short-term, weekly or more frequently.

Charley Shults

Accredited with UKCP as an integrative psychotherapist, Works with individuals, couples, families and groups. Training includes addictions, marriage and family, NLP, REBT, attachment and others. An integrative therapist who uses a combination of these techniques in a modality called Attachment Centred Therapy, although each therapeutic mode may be utilised separately as needed.

Harcharan Sira

Registered as an Integrative Psychotherapist with UKCP through NGP and accredited by BACP. Working individually in short and long term therapies. Speaks Hindi/Punjabi and Urdu.

Valerie Streater

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytic Council.  Senior Member British Psychotherapy Foundation.  Working individually in long term and short term therapises.  Offers individual supervision.

Sean Taylor

Psychodynamic Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychoanalytical Council.  Member of the Tavistock Society for psychotherapists.  Also a member and trustee of Group Analysis North, a Group analytic training institution in the North West of England.  Works individually, offering long and short term therapies.

Esme Towse

Registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist with UKCP. Works individually in long term therapies, including 2 x weekly and 3 x weekly therapies and with an analytic group. Offers clinical supervision individually and in small groups.  

Cheryl Williams

UKCP Registered as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.  Working individually in short and long term therapies.  Offers individual and group supervision.
